Tired of Being Stuck and Not Performing to Your Potential?

If you feel like no matter how hard you try, it's never good enough, you're not alone.

Despite all your training, you still feel like you are falling short as a dog handler. With a staggering majority of the dog sport population feeling the same way, it can only mean one thing. Our approach to training *for performance* needs to change.

Breaking down the mechanics of a skill is only one tiny piece of the puzzle when it comes to troubleshooting performance issues and building toward masterful performance.

This masterclass focuses on the training processes of high performers, the pieces that you aren't being taught, and will help you create a breakthrough in your handling and training.

You'll learn how to break down and problem-solve your performance issues in an organized, scientific way and learn how to identify and build progressions that take all performance elements into account.

Because you and your dog are so worth it!

IT'S TIME TO LEVEL UP!

Course starts Saturday, November 11th.

It's a case of you don't know what you don't know.

Troubleshooting problems and building high level performance goes well beyond simply breaking skills down.

INTRODUCING...

TRAIN TO EXCEL

MASTERCLASS

BECOME A MASTER.

Learn how to see, problem-solve and train like a professional athlete/coach using my M.A.S.T.E.R.Y. framework. I'll teach you how to:

  • Use biomechanics to solve technical issues
  • Understand how to balance training accuracy and speed
  • Truly understand what timing is, how to troubleshoot timing issues, and way to train for great timing right from the beginning
  • Know when to move forward or back up in your training
  • Get better training done in shorter periods of time so you and your dog progress faster with less stress
  • Improve your reaction time
  • Proof against competition variables
  • Understand what good feedback contains and the right questions to ask to get the help you need
  • And much more...

It’s time to unleash your true potential.

MODULE #1

The M.A.S.T.E.R.Y framework. The puzzle pieces. What are all the elements required for great performance?

To improve performance, we have to be able to accurately identify where the problem is truly originating from.

MODULE #2

Mechanics. You can't break down, troubleshoot or personalize skill training without a basic understanding of skill mechanics and biomechanics — how natural forces affect the way a human or dog body moves. It applies to how your dog jumps, flanks or changes direction, how you handle and yes...even how you train.

MODULE #3

Accuracy. Just because you have a nice looking golf swing, doesn't mean you can put the ball where you want it. The same applies for dog sport skills. But simple repetition isn't the answer to building accuracy. How do you judge accuracy? When should you stop and fix it? When should you keep going?

MODULE #4

Speed. It's not just about how fast you or your dog can run. It's about intelligent use of speed while maintaining accurate behaviour relative to your sport. It's also about the latency of behaviour from your cue to the dog taking action. And how reaction time plays into speed.

MODULE #5

Timing. "You're late" doesn't begin to explain it. Timing is a dynamic thing, like rhythm in music. It shifts subtly based on the demands of the moment and the communication of the team. Reaction time plays an even greater part. Great trainers and handlers have it. But do you know how to TRAIN it? How do you improve your timing...and your reaction time when things don't go as planned?

MODULE #6

Experimenting. The start of the creative process, the testing of skills, the proofing, the tweaking of progressions, the responding to unique situations. How to know when to move ahead and when to back up. How to troubleshoot and find the real problems.

MODULE #7

Rehearsal. I can almost guarantee you aren't getting enough out of your practice time. The way you practice, the amount of time you practice, the quality and intensity of your repetitions, your focus and goals for practice, the amount of challenge, the amount and quality of coaching...all of it matters to get solid skills in the least amount of time relative to the developmental stage of the dog...and yourself.

MODULE #8

YEARS & YOU! Mindset matters, but it goes beyond what people typically think of mindset. Your willingness to accept responsibility for your learning,  to commit fully and absolutely to what you want and to put in the work to get there over a period of years. To be willing to grow, accept unpleasant truths, get help when you need it and work on your weaknesses. You can't grow as a competitor and trainer if you refuse to grow as a person, a competitor and an athlete. You've got to show up every day, work for understanding and let go of ego. Training mindset isn't something you turn off and on...it's a lifestyle, a marathon for the long haul.

NEXT STEPS

What is the next piece of the puzzle you need to reach your dream goals?

LIVE COACHING

In addition to the weekly pre-recorded lessons, there is one live group session per week, including theory, Q&A and practical application to different dog sports. (Replays will be available.) Learn the ideas then put the techniques you learn into practice during live group coaching sessions and apply them to your own challenges and training plans.

Before the practical group session, you’ll get a lesson prompt. This will help you organize your thoughts around how that week's lesson applies to your own training. Then when you come to class, you’ll be ready to apply the theory to something you are working on. Most students find it powerful to learn that others are having similar struggles and hear the creative ways they are problem-solving and training.

While these principles apply to everything from sport (and dog sport) to playing an instrument, the course material will use dog agility and herding as the main dog sport examples, but I can help you to apply them to your specific sport in the live group coaching sessions. In fact, we will be applying some of these principles to fun skills you can try at home!

SPECIAL COURSE CONTENT

Two of the live events cover exclusive material outside of the main course material.

Special Live Event

ASSESSING POTENTIAL: What is potential, what to look for, how do you assess potential, what is latent potential?

Special Live Event

PROOFING FOR GAME DAY: How do you take training and preparation to the next level?

YOUR COACH.

I'm Kathy Keats. I've been around elite sport most of my life as a competitor and coach, won world and national championships in different disciplines (basketball, dog agility, sheepdog trialing)... but I'm not naturally talented at any of these things.

I've had to work hard for all my success.

I learned early on that there was a way to train, a path to success, that was repeatable, involving both mindset and the process of training.

Now, my calling is to bring that information into the dog world and pass it on so you can pursue your dream goals and reach levels you never thought possible.

IS THE MASTERCLASS RIGHT FOR YOU?

This masterclass is NOT for you if you are looking for a magic bullet, quick fix, aren't willing to do the work or if you are content staying where you are.

If you ARE serious about improving, and willing to dedicate yourself to your craft, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or world team member, this course will be valuable.

The course will be applicable to all dog sports (and learning things outside of dog sport as well). Many of the dog examples will come from dog agility and herding, with a few other dog sports mixed in.

You do not have to be at live class, you can submit questions prior or after classes and all replays will be available.Even if you are not able to train right now, the theory and Q&As will expand your understanding of training toward an elite level of performance. The course is a mix of pre-recorded lessons and live group teaching/Q&A. Check out the FAQs below for more details.
